Welcome to Without Industry

My name is MF and you've just made your way to the beta of my project Without Industry. I used to host a radio show called 'Say Word?!' from 2011- 2013, which focused on Montreal Hip Hop music. That experience taught me a lot about the Montreal urban art scene and raised a lot of concerns and questions about its industry (or lack there of). This lead me to start researching and mapping the Urban Arts scene and the Montreal Black History in order to understand where the scene stands now and to honor the presence of those who have contributed to its history. Through the Without Industry project, I will be uncovering these stories & sounds to make them accessible for you all.

This project has taken many shapes over the years, at first was going to be a documentary then I wanted to do video series all of which didn't really feel like it was fully doing the history justice so now it is my Masters thesis and I am research mode so that I can have a dope output for you in 2017. To help me stay connected to you all and keep me on track with my research I've started to the Without Industry radio series, which you can tune into on CJLO 1690AM every 2nd and 4th wednesday of the month from 5-6pm. I'll be bringing you archives, interviews and more on this blog as well so be sure to subscribe to the blog and the other social mediums so we can stay in touch.

Much Love,
MF
